Dr. D'Esposito graduated from Hofstra University in 1964 and earned his medical degree from the University of Padova, in Padova, Italy. He served his internship and residencies in surgery and urology at Nassau Hospital in Mineola, New York. He is certified by the American Board of Urology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is currently a Clinical Associate Professor at Stony Brook Medical School.

Barry R. Shepard, M.D., F.A.C.S. Barry R. Shepard, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Shepard graduated with honors from the University of Texas - Austin in 1974. He received his MD from SUNY-Downstate in Brooklyn. He performed his internship and residency in surgery at Long Island Jewish Hillside Medical Center. He then trained as a resident in urology at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York, NY. Dr. Shepard is certified by the American Board of Urology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Robert A. Edelman, MD Robert A. Edelman, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Edelman graduated cum laude from Brooklyn College in 1970. He earned his medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical School in Syracuse, NY and served residencies in surgery and in urology at Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center in the Bronx. He has published several papers on urological research. He has also invented several significant medical products, including the Edelman Catheter. He is currently a Clinical Associate Professor at Stony Brook Medical School. Dr. Edelman is certified by the American Board of Urology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Gary S. Oshinsky, MDGary S. Oshinsky, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Oshinsky earned his bachelors degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1983. He graduated cum laude with an MD from SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn, and pursued further training as a resident in surgery and in urology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. In his final year of residency, he was Chief Resident in Urology. He has multiple publications, presentations, and academic awards to his credit.

Dr. Oshinsky is the Director of Urology at Mercy Medical Center. He is certified by the American Board of Urology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Jeffrey H. Lumerman, M.D., F.A.C.S.Jeffrey H. Lumerman, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Lumerman graduated cum laude from Yeshiva University in 1989. He earned his MD from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and trained as an intern at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. He completed his residency in urology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in June 1999 and began practice with Urological Surgeons of Long Island. Dr. Lumerman has participated in many community awareness programs and he lectures widely. He has received several academic honors, has extensive experience in urological research, and has published and presented his research findings on many occasions. Dr. Lumerman is certified by the American Board of Urology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Meyer David Gershbaum, M.D.

Dr. Gershbaum graduated from Yeshiva University in 1993. He earned his MD from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1996. He completed his residency in urology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in 2002, and was awarded "Resident of the Year" for both 2001 and 2002. He completed a fellowship in laparoscopic surgery at the University of Miami in 2003. Dr. Gershbaum is married and enjoys skiing, fishing, and swimming.

Dr. Gershbaum performs daVinci® robotic surgery.

Robert J. Nejat, M.D.

Robert J. Nejat, M.D.

Dr. Nejat received his bachelor's degree from New York University in 1991. He earned his MD from Weill Cornell University Medical College. He completed his residency in urology at New York Presbyterian Hospital – Columbia Campus. He serves on staff at Winthrop University Hospital, North Shore University Hospital at Manhasset, and New York Presbyterian Hospital. A distinguished clinician and researcher, Dr. Nejat is currently a Clinical Instructor of Urology at Cornell University Medical College and has published extensively on topics including prostate cancer, enlarged prostate, and urolithiasis. Dr. Nejat is certified by the American Board of Urology.
